Whether you are suffering from a sports injury, acute traumatic injury, chronic pain, or a deconditioning syndrome, active rehabilitation is an essential part of your journey back to health. Along with passive therapies and chiropractic adjustments, we use active exercises to restore and build physical strength, endurance balance, power, and flexibility. The goals of rehabilitative exercise are based on the theory of progressive load of the injured tissue to restore you to full function.
What to Expect
During your initial assessment, your care plan will contain exercises to be performed in the office. You may also be given exercises to do at home in between office visits. We have found that adjustments plus exercises give the best chance for you to reach your maximum potential.
The exercises are given in stages.
The first stage is about building a strong base. Balance and proprioception exercises are used to create a stable base to build upon.
The next stage will continue with progressive load to establish strength and endurance.
The last stage is made up of functional exercises and drills to improve your strength, flexibility, and stamina. The goal is to stress and develop new tissue growth to ensure the body is ready for pain-free daily movement and exercise.
Programs are carefully monitored and guided by Dr. Paolini to achieve your goals in an efficient manner. Active rehabilitation, together with chiropractic adjustments, will help you build a more dynamic musculoskeletal system, the benefits of which you can enjoy for the rest of your life.
MOVE BETTER. FEEL BETTER.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a rehab session?
The length of the session depends on the goals set and your abilities. Sessions can range from 10 minutes to 45 minutes.
Are rehabilitation sessions painful?
In short, no. The “no pain no gain” mentality does not apply to exercise rehabilitation. Muscles will get fatigued, and injured muscles can ache when first being stretched, but usually, they feel warm and loose after a session. Each session is overseen by Dr. Paolini, who will make sure you are staying within your limits.
I go to the gym regularly. How is this different?
Rehabilitation exercise aims to bring back full function following injury through restoring muscle strength, endurance, power, and improving flexibility. While you may recognize some of the exercises, others you will not. Further, it is the implementation and targeting of the exercises that make the difference.
